What Is A Faraday Cage?

When the equipment or electronic products are covered, they can operate smoothly and extend their service life. Some electronic products and devices also generate electromagnetic radiation outward, which can have an impact on the surrounding environment and other devices, and even cause harm to the human body.  Therefore, this metal cage also serves as an isolation for the outward diffusion of electromagnetic radiation.  It is the Faraday cage.

 

Working principle:

Eliminating external electromagnetic interference equipment also prevents internal equipment or electronic components from spreading electromagnetic radiation and radio frequency radiation outward.

 

At the same time, it also has a certain grounding effect, which can guide the static electricity generated in the environment into the ground, extending the lifespan of equipment and electronic products.

In high-voltage line environments, the protective clothing worn by maintenance workers also plays a role in shielding electromagnetic radiation, which can also be understood as a type of Faraday cage. However, the production process and materials used for this clothing are different from those of metal cages.

 

MRI imaging:

Faraday cages are also used in medical settings, and many imaging devices generate electromagnetic radiation to interfere with surrounding equipment, causing harm to personnel's bodies. With Faraday cages, there is no need to worry about inaccurate data or physical harm.

 

In fact, the environment we are in requires Faraday cages to protect, such as household appliances, WIFI, electricity meters, and other devices, to prevent them from releasing electromagnetic radiation that can harm the body and prevent external EMI from affecting these devices.
